March is B Corp month, and one of B Lab Portugal's initiatives to celebrate it was to hold a different kind of meeting for the B Corp community. The B2B meeting, which took place on March 12, 2024 at Impact Hub - Penha, in Lisbon, was attended by several B Corp companies and a special guest: Nuno Gaspar de Oliveira, from NBI - Natural Business Intelligence, who spoke about "from the business-as-usual economy to the natural/ecological economy".
During the meeting, B Lab gave a presentation on the B Corp movement and outlook in Portugal - since the last meeting in November 2023, 8 new companies have been certified as B Corp (one operating only in Portugal and seven operating internationally). The goals for 2024 and 2025 were addressed: they involve strengthening the B Corp movement in Portugal, ensuring that there is awareness about what it is, how companies can be part of it, and how they can also unite and get involved, thus developing the capability to promote greater education for their employees and the community itself.
During the coffee breaks, which also included food products from B Corp businesses, the companies had the opportunity to exchange views on the initiatives they are carrying out: Systemic, for example, is currently offering free mentoring sessions for companies wishing to become B Corp certified, and several companies, such as Canela, Phenix, Atrevia and Impactrip, are preparing events, webinars and articles aimed at educating companies and employees about the B Corp movement.
Coverflex has carried out a number of social responsibility actions in recent years: for example, we joined TREES and planted more than 7,000 trees - and we will continue to plant a tree for every new customer we have, as well as offsetting 100% of our carbon emissions, among others. Our latest initiative, which was also presented at the event, is the special price we offer to B Corp companies. Until this year, we applied more than 40% off our product to non-government, non-commercial in nature, and non-political organisations. Now, we also apply this discount to B Corp companies.
