n early 2022, we developed the Donations category, which is something that was already in our plans and was accelerated by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. This benefit, which is exempt from Social Security and IRS for the employee, and from TSU for the company, makes it easier to give financial support to public or private entities that are mentioned in the Portuguese tax benefits by-law (EBF - Estatuto de Benefícios Fiscais). To be considered as part of this by-law, these entities must develop work mainly within the social, cultural, environmental or educational fields.
In December 2022, we expanded our network of institutions, thus enabling through Coverflex more causes to be disseminated and reached.
Today, following the earthquakes that happened in Syria and Turkey this month, we have written this article to inform you about Coverflex's partner institutions that are also joining forces to help the victims of this disaster. Portugal with UNHCR
Portugal with UNHCR, the Portuguese partner of UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has just been added to our network of institutions. UNHCR is a United Nations (UN) agency that has been operating globally since 1951 with the aim of ensuring and protecting the rights of refugees, covering various fronts such as protection, durable solutions, campaigns, coordination and innovation, among others. Currently assisting around 67 million people and with more than 460 offices spread across 130 countries, UNHCR operates through donations made by countries, individuals or private institutions. For all its work, the agency has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize twice.
At the moment, Portugal with UNHCR is also collecting donations for the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria. You can make a donation in your Coverflex app as well, which will go towards any of the situations and people supported by Portugal with UNHCR.
UNICEF
UNICEF's mission is to defend and promote children's rights and create lasting conditions for their development. The Convention on the Rights of the Child recognises children's rights so that they can live, grow and learn in a safe and protective environment, and participate in life in society. In Portugal, UNICEF monitors the situation children live in, intervening in areas such as child poverty, violence against children, mental health or migration. In collaboration with government entities, schools and civil society organisations, UNICEF Portugal works daily to ensure that all children have a fair chance in life.

Aldeias de Crianças SOS
Aldeias de Crianças SOS is the world's largest organisation supporting children and young people in danger or at risk of losing parental care. They care for vulnerable children and young people and promote their development and autonomy through fostering them in family-like environments and strengthening their family, social and community networks. They provide care for children and young people in SOS villages, in flats for autonomy and supervised autonomy. They also strengthen families in situations of risk through family prevention, meeting points and family reunification initiatives.
At the moment, Aldeias de Crianças SOS is also collecting donations in favour of the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria, through an emergency fund dedicated to this cause. You can also make a donation via the Coverflex platform, which will go towards any of the situations and people supported by Aldeias de Crianças SOS.
